From 13 June to 25 July 2025, the Italian Cultural Institute in Copenhagen will host the traveling exhibition “Vico Magistretti. Architecture & Design”. On this occasion, Oluce will participate with one of its most iconic creations: the Atollo lamp.
Curated by the Vico Magistretti Foundation, the exhibition seeks to illustrate the work of the renowned architect and designer not only through his finished projects, but also via a rich selection of archival materials—including sketches, drawings, and photographs—that retrace a sixty-year career which played a defining role in the history of Italian design. The exhibition features a selection of Magistretti’s most celebrated pieces, on loan from the Foundation’s partner companies.
Among them, the Atollo lamp stands out: the piece that earned Magistretti the prestigious ADI Compasso d’Oro award in 1979, and which will be presented on this occasion in its black metal version. Widely regarded as an icon of Italian design, Atollo is internationally recognized for its rigorous geometric composition and the harmonious balance it achieves between functionality and aesthetic form—qualities that redefined the archetype of the traditional bedside lamp. Its structure, composed of a cylinder, a cone, and a hemisphere, gives rise to a decorative object of enduring elegance and timeless appeal.
