Oluce is taking part in the exhibition entitled “Non ha l’età. Il festival di Sanremo in bianco e nero 1951-1976”, curated by Aldo Grasso and promoted by Intesa San Paolo, with Joe Colombo’s iconic Spider
The exhibition, being held at the Gallerie d’Italia – Turin from 1 February to 12 May 2024, celebrates the most important Italian song festival. Inside the exhibition, a glossy black version of Joe Colombo’s Spider is used to recreate the atmosphere of an old 1960s press room.
The exhibition, which is sponsored by the Piedmont Region and the City of Turin, presents 85 photographs from the Intesa SanPaolo Publifoto Archive on the Sanremo Festival. The photographs in the exhibition not only focus on images of performances, but also devote more attention to what happens ‘off-stage’.
Spider, designed by Joe Colombo in 1965 and winner of the Compasso d’Oro, is an iconic lamp in the Oluce collection, characterised by a single painted metal illuminating body, specifically designed for a special horizontal spot bulb, mounted on a vertical chromed rod and supported by a base also made from painted metal. Within the exhibition, the Spider lamp takes on documentary value, testifying to an important chapter not only in Italian music and television, but also in the social history of the country.
The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm and on Wednesdays from 9.30 am to 10.30 pm at the Gallerie d’Italia – Turin.
