Place: Rome
Lamps: Alba 383
Designer: Mariana Pellegrino Soto
Recently opened as part of the new Terrazza Termini food court and lounge area, Michelin-starred chef Antonello Colonna’s Open Bistrò by Chef Express sits beneath the monumental vaults of Termini station’s Mazzoniana wing. A space of immense architectural beauty, with subtle rationalist undertones, illuminated by a series of floor-standing, dual-head Alba lights.
Designed by Mariana Pellegrino Soto, the Alba concept is the result of an extremely simple element, inspired by a drop of water. Two drops of light branch off separately from a central stem, created for this design in an anodic-bronze finish.
Arranged around majestic street lights designed by Mendini and located in the centre of the room, the Alba lamps create myriad dots of soft light, embellishing and illuminating the environment and creating a mellow atmosphere with a retro feel. With their decorative spirit and elegant design, the Alba lamps add to the feeling that there is a new way of experiencing the station, which is no longer just a place to travel through but an experience in itself and an intrinsic stage of a journey.
